2011 - What a year - so many moments and this was the year that the MTV Europe Awards rolled into town and Belfast Music Week came to life for a massive second year.

Belfast Music Week originated in September 2010, as a response to the city’s first MTV event when Mark Ronson’s Waterfront gig was recorded for broadcast on MTV. With very little time to prepare, the local music industry and Belfast City Council pulled together to programme over 100 gigs in 30 venues.

The success of 2010 highlighted the potential for an annual event and in 2011 Belfast Music Week returned bigger and stronger. There were over 170 performances across 45 venues. By the end of that week over 33,500 music lovers had witnessed Belfast at its best.

It was a collaborative effort between local venues, artists, bands, creators, promoters, entrepreneurs and community.

The EMA's took place at The Odyssey, Snow Patrol played a show outside City Hall and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers played the Ulster Hall.

Belfast Music Week was organised by Belfast City Council and coordinated by Oh Yeah. BCC garnered support from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Tourism Ireland, Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure and the European Regional Development Fund.

Here are just a few Oh Yeah memories from across that year with a few extra Belfast Music Week photos in there too!

OK so we are cheating a bit, but it was too hard to get it down to 13 defining photos!
