Preliminaries: Thursday August 16th, 23rd, 30th, Sept 6th
Semi Final Round: Sept 13th (Top 5 will go to Finals)
THE $3,000 GRAND FINALS: Sept 20th 2018
RULES & REGULATIONS:
Costumes are required.
Routine must be at least 90% Bachata (Urban or Dominican) and 1 minute in length MAX including introduction. You risk disqualification if your routine exceeds the time limit.
Professionals for this competition are defined as individuals who have won professional competitions, are paid to teach/perform and/or directors/asst directors of dance companies.
Amateurs for his competition are defined as dancers who generally do not receive compensation for teaching or performing.
Qualifying rounds are judged by audience response.
Semi-final BATTLE ROUND will be judged by professional judges and audience response. Top 5 in each category will be chosen to go to Finals based on elimination. All dancers will take the floor as a group and have the opportunity one by one to perform a spotlight dance to DJ’s chosen song. Dancer may freestyle or use choreography during their spotlight dance. Each spotlight dance is 40 seconds (50% urban 50% dominican)
The Finals are judged by professional judges and % of audience response.
ALL DECISIONS ARE FINAL.

You must arrive by designated CALL TIME on competitions nights, otherwise you risk disqualification.
JUDGING CRITERIA
Choreography - How is routine laid out, the execution and level of difficulty.
Musicality - How well the dancer interprets the music, its highs, lows, breaks and various instruments & beats.
Timing - Is the dancer consistent with timing?
Technique - How well the dancer executes the moves technically, ex. Body movement, lines, control, turns, bachata basic and fundamentals
Stage Presence - Confidence and presence on stage, from entrance, throughout routine and exit
Audience response - How well does the dancer capture, excite and hold the audience’s attention?
