Das SchwuZ wird am 3. Oktober 2020 dem TAG DER CLUBKULTUR für jahrzehntelanges Engagement in der Berliner Clubkultur mit 10.000 Euro ausgezeichnet und präsentiert sich selbst, die Vielfalt und Lebendigkeit der Berliner Clubkultur an diesem Tag neben 39 anderen Clubs und Kollektiven der ganzen Stadt. Die Auszeichnung wurde auf Initiative von Berlins Kultursenator Klaus Lederer ins Leben gerufen, um in existenzbedrohenden Zeiten ein deutliches Signal für die Vielfalt und Bedeutung der Berliner Clubkultur zu senden. Im Rahmen dieses Showcase-Festivals unter den notwendigen Hygiene- und Sicherheitsauflagen zeigt das SchwuZ Auszüge aus der Vielfalt seines Programms als diverser, queerer Club, der durch, mit und für die Community lebt. Unter anderem präsentiert der Neuköllner Club sich mit DJ-Sets in den Musikstilen Pop, House & HipHop und Shows & Showcases großartiger Kollektive. Die Veranstaltung findet im Hybrid-Format statt und kann in insgesamt zwei Slots von jeweils 40 Personen vor Ort und darüber hinaus von allen anderen kostenlos im Internet verfolgt werden. »Wir freuen uns sehr, dass wir neben vielen anderen tollen Clubs und Kollektiven diesen Preis erhalten werden. Ich empfinde ihn als großartige Anerkennung für unsere Arbeit. Einen immer inklusiveren Ort für alle Queers und deren Freund_innen zu schaffen, ist eine gewaltige Aufgabe und niemals endende Leistung von sehr vielen Menschen. Wir sind mit rund 100 Arbeitsplätzen für queere Menschen, ebenso wie für über 250 queere und/oder weibliche Künstler_innen monatlich ein wichtiger Mittelpunkt für das Leben, Arbeiten und Wirken innerhalb der Kulturlandschaft in Berlin. Wir fördern Nachwuchs sowie Nischen- und Kulturveranstaltungen, die sich monetär überhaupt nicht rechnen. Partizipation, Kooperation, Nachhaltigkeit, Diversität, Nachwuchsförderung und faire Löhne sind alles Themen, die in allen gesellschaftlichen Bereichen wichtig sind. Wir sind ein Kulturort und freuen uns, durch die Auszeichnung als solcher gewürdigt zu werden. Die Auszeichnung ist Ansporn für uns, an all dem Bisherigen weiterzuarbeiten und damit zu einer besseren Welt beizutragen.«

SchwuZ will be awarded 10,000 euros on October 3, 2020, the CLUBCULTURE DAY for decades of engagement in Berlin's club culture and will present the club that day along with 39 other clubs and collectives from all over the city, presenting itself, the diversity and spiritedness of Berlin's club culture. The award was created on the initiative of Berlin's Senator for Culture, Klaus Lederer, to send a clear signal for the diversity and the importance of Berlin's club culture in times when its existence is in danger. As part of this showcase festival under the essential conditions of hygiene and safety, SchwuZ presents highlights from the diversity of its program as a diverse, queer club that lives through, with and for its community. One of the ways the Neuköllner Club presents itself is with DJ sets in the music styles Pop, House & HipHop and Shows & Showcases of great collectives. The event will take place in hybrid format and can be watched in a total of two slots by 40 people each on site and by everyone else for free on the Internet. Tickets can be purchased here:

"We are very happy that we will receive this award as well as many other great clubs and collectives. I feel it is a great honor for our work. Creating an more inclusive place for all queers and their friends is a massive mission and a never-ending process for many people. With about 100 jobs for queer people, as well as for more than 250 queer and/or female artists each month, we are an important place for living, working and acting within the cultural landscape in Berlin. We support young talents as well as special and cultural events that do not pay off at all in monetary terms. Participation, cooperation, sustainability, diversity, young talents and fair payment are all topics that are important in all areas of society. We are a place of culture and are glad to be honored as such by this award. The award is a great motivation for us to continue working on all that we have done so far and therefore to help create a better world".
