Earlier this week, a woman showed up alone, visibly shaken, wearing a northbeach tank top and carrying a small urn. She explained that her husband had recently passed away, and that northbeach was his favorite place. She was wondering if she could spread his ashes in the waters surrounding the building.
"Of course, Ma'am. Of course."
I wanted to share this as a testament to her love of her husband.
But it also reminded me of our amazing staff, who bust their butts daily, rain or shine, to create an atmosphere where people can relax, unwind, and most of all have fun. It is solely because of them that many come to view northbeach as their "favorite place." Its unfortunate that of the tens of thousands of people who walk under our marquis every summer, a very small handfull aren't interested in that atmosphere. But to you and the other 99.99% of our customers, we promise to do all we can to insure northbeach remains the happiest place on earth.
So thank you, Ma'am, for reminding us why we do what we do. We are sorry for, and saddened by, your loss. And incredibly humbled by your gesture.
