After two years of self-imposed exile, The Owls are out of hibernation, and headlining UP! at the Marly!

Off the back of their acclaimed single 'Ocean', the band relentlessly toured Australia for the better half of 2014, building a league of fans across the country and gaining praise from bloggers, triple j presenters and community radio. It also saw them support the likes of The Living End, The Jezabels and British India.

Wanting to keep the momentum alive, The Owls hurriedly began writing and recording their next release. However, they were so unhappy with it that they tossed away all their demos and stepped away to discover their sound again.

Now, after a relentless amount of late night sessions with renowned producer Lachlan Mitchell (The Vines, The Jezabels), the band has delivered what is arguably their most refined work to date – 'Feels Like Gold'. Released in October, it is filled with raw energy and punchy vocals, and will leave you rolling around your head for days. The song debuts a new sound from The Owls, who experimented with refining their grit rock sound with pop sensibilities.

To mark their return, The Owls have locked in a run of East Coast dates this month (including The Marly!) with support act, Newcastle Indie Rock band, dave.

UP! is Marly's Thursday night live music event. Sponsored by Young Henrys, UP! showcases the best of both established and up-and-coming local talent every Thursday from 9pm.
