This Friday we welcome DJ Okapi, who is known for bringing the rare South African ‘Bubblegum’ and ‘kwaito’ sound from the 80s and 90s, combined with a disco-funk sensibility that is simply sure-fire sub-tropical party material.
DJ Okapi gained international recognition for his Afrosynth Records blog that unearthed rare Southern African sounds, and he’s gone on to put together compilations for the likes of Soundway and Rush Hour, and is considered a master of African electronic sound.
