On Saturday, May 11th, Missy Elliott became the first hip-hop artist to receive an honorary doctorate from Berklee College of Music. The prestigious institution recognized her influential work.

Within 2019, along with being the first hip-hop artist to receive the honorary doctor of music degree, she also became the first female rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.
